The handwritten message on the reverse reads '22/1/08 / Dear Mother / This is the place / where we went to for a walk / last week, 3 mls from here. Well / all those hill's at the back of the / lake are all on fire, 2 families / have lost their home's & one / has lost half only half of his / house is standing its the way / the fire travel's, & the place where / we went for a frive one Sunday / is also on fire, but I don't think / they will laost much longer as / we have ahd a change already / it is only 70 degree's this morning / its lovely & cool, last night the / fires looked lovely in the distance / we aer so high up, so we can / see for ml's around us. I will / be able to do some gardening / when I come home, I have also / got a lot of different seeds, I will / soom be jack of all trade's. / Love & best wishes / Annie'
