A tooled brown leather hardcover presentation photograph album with the title 'PICTORIAL HISTORY / COMMONWEALTH GOVERNMENT PRINTING / CANBERRA' stamped in gold coloured ink on the front. The album contains handwritten title pages and black and white photographs of the Canberra and Melbourne printing offices and employees. The pages are textured and are interleaved with a thin tissue paper. The cover has a foliate tooled border. The inside handwritten presentation page reads 'Presented to / Mr. C. J. (John) Thompson / Government Printer / 1977 - 1987 / on the occasion of his / Official Farewell / the Sixth day of October 1988'. Inside the back cover a red adhesive label has the printed text 'Bound by SCOTT GURNEY / 4th year apprentice 1988 / Finished by ROB McGREGOR'. There is a long black and white portrait photograph showing a group of people outside a building, and two printed invitations to Mr Thompson's farewell, in the back of the album.
