A Teamster's Camp in Australia Carting Wheat to Railway Station

Physical description

A "COMMONWEALTH IMMIGRATION OFFICE PHOTO" postcard featuring a sepia coloured photograph of four men resting by a large dray with 12 horses, one of which is saddled. The dray is piled with grain. A caption for the photograph, in the top right hand corner, reads:

"A TEAMSTER'S CAMP IN AUSTRALIA CARTING WHEAT TO / RAILWAY STATION.
LAST YEAR THERE WERE 2,415,510 HORSES IN AUSTRALIA./ AUSTRALIA'S CLIMATE AND PASTURES ARE BRILLIANTLY ADAPTED TO THE BREEDING OF ALL CLASSES OF HORSES. DURING THE RECENT WAR AUSTRALIAN HORSES SUITED ALL PURPOSES."

The reverse of the card features the text "Kinsmen, we welcome you" inslide an outline of Australia.
